Every 8 minutes, a child goes missing in India, with approximately 180 children trafficked each day. Manipulated by agents within vast trafficking networks, these children and their families, particularly those from low-income backgrounds, are deceived with false promises of limited work hours alongside continued education. In reality, they become enslaved upon arrival. Bihar is one of the states significantly affected by this issue. Centre Direct is an organisation working towards stopping child trafficking in this state. They provide legal and livelihood support to the rescued children and their families to help the children resume their studies and reduce the risk of re-trafficking. Additionally, they identify at-risk families and offer livelihood support to prevent initial trafficking.
